God of this Restless Mind

Lost in the depths of night,

my thoughts circle

in the quiet war of the mind.

A heavy weight presses down

invisible to every eye,

yet raging within like a storm.

My heart races.

Breath shortens.

I look to my Saviour

and ask Him to carry the burden.

You formed me in my mother’s womb.

You number the hairs on my head.

Yet I wander like a lost sheep

through the narrow tomb of my thoughts.

Find me.

Lead me, my Good and Faithful Shepherd.

Let even these cries

become worship.

For You are the God of my valleys,

and the Lord

who commands the storm of this restless mind.
