Thank you for visiting my blog. My name is Alan Biswas-Rooney, and I am a graduate of London School of Theology. Since graduating in 2018, I have found myself slowly re-examining and, in many ways, deconstructing the Pentecostal experience that had shaped much of my theological outlook and understanding of the Christian life.

Since the beginning of 2020, I have been introduced to the writings of the Puritans, including Jonathan Edwards, Jeremiah Burroughs, John Bunyan, Richard Sibbes, John Owen, and Thomas Manton, as well as later preachers and theologians such as Charles Spurgeon, J.I. Packer, George Whitefield, R.C. Sproul, Alistair Begg, and Sinclair Ferguson. Through these writers, I was led to think more deeply about the doctrines of sin, redemption, suffering, predestination, and the sovereign work of God by His Spirit.

This journey has not been merely theological, but deeply personal. In the midst of it, I have also had to walk through struggles with mental illness, and those experiences have left a lasting mark on both my faith and ministry. They have pressed me to wrestle seriously with questions of suffering, weakness, assurance, prayer, and the presence of God in seasons of darkness. In many ways, the Lord has used these trials to strip away shallow assumptions and to lead me toward a more deeply rooted, biblically grounded, and confessionally Reformed faith.

Over the past several years, I have served in different pastoral settings, including as an Associate Pastor in Buckinghamshire, a full-time Pastor in Paisley, and now as Pastor in South Yorkshire. Through both ministry and personal trial, I have become increasingly persuaded of the sufficiency of Scripture, the richness of the doctrines of grace, and the need for faithful, pastorally grounded theology in the life of the church.

I created this blog to share something of that journey and to offer thoughtful reflection on theology, pastoral ministry, suffering, prayer, and the Christian life. My hope is that these writings will encourage others to think carefully about their experience of God in a confused world, and to rest more fully in the truth of His Word and the grace of Christ.
